Wanting to change my contemporary living room to a cozier, rustic, more inviting room, I needed to cover the white porcelain tiled hearth and gas fireplace surround with the natural look of stone. Research took me through options of "stone look" smooth wallpaper, styrofoam "spongy brick" glue on panels and toxin emitting pvc stick-on tiles. Fortunately, then I came across the StoneFlex site and my search was over, dream was answered. Actual REAL stone in panels, thin enough to cut with shears or oscillating saw & able to sand any rough edges remaining, backed with an industrial adhesive to peel & stick to your surface. The stone layers are 3D with beautiful staggered jutting surfaces as well as an awesome blending of colors and sheens. Purchased 2 boxes of tiles to have extra for color-staggering planning etc. Also purchased 1 box of 5 thin veneer peel & stick panels to cover white tiles of hearth, flush with carpet. Only slight undulations in veneers with no jutting 3D rough stone surfaces. My eyes are constantly drawn to my NEW fireplace every time I walk by the room and I smile with pride. It's absolutely stunning!!! It was an easy DIY few hour project even for this 60+ year old woman! I also really appreciated the sample pack offered of 3 colors of my choosing to help me decide on a final color---Burning Forest--prior to ordering. GREAT product!!
The product is great! Feels and looks like stone. It was easy to cut and sticks very well. We did end up using a band saw to cut the sheets as it was a cleaner cut and easier. Overall I would recommend this product.
Easy to work with, cuts nicer with a table saw. Use i jig saw to make cutouts around outlets. After install go around the edges and joints with a tiny bead of caulk that matches the color. Prevents dirt, ect from getting into the edges and highlighting them.
Very nice pretty easy to work with.i used my multi toolwith a carbide tip, worked well. A little tricky when going around outlets.not the cutting but ending up with a thick piece.of slate holding the cover plates out so a gap was there. I knotched the slate and grinded the thick part down so cover plates fit flush.turned out👍
I can't believe what a superior product you have. I absolutely love the results of my project.
